i spend a good ammount of time at the yard today and i came across a fancied up cressida with a DOHC 6 in it (seemed to be all there) i didnt pull it (small hand tools only) but it got me to thinkin. any one put one of these into a z?
any Z but i am probally gonna assume if they did it was 280zx back.

questions like these is why we need general z topics section.

any way while i was there i did get a new tail light, a good rear bumper and front seats out of a '99 subaru forester, not the color i want but if i come across another pair it'll be an easy swap out.

#1... What year Cressida?

#2... It was the same basic motor as the Supra... and the 5M motor was a whopping 116hp-143hp (hardly a reason to do a swap into a 280zx). The 7M motor was rated about 156hp.

#3... We do have a General 280zx section... it's in the 280ZX section. :D

Some people have put in the 7mgte with great results. I believe there's a guy running a 7mgte with close to 500 hp and a/c on hybridz. Stock Cressidas have the non-turbo version of the 7m, and they aren't very quick.

i have heard that the supra strait 6 has been frequently called the best all around engine ever. is this not the same one? 156 doesn't constitute the best in my book

^^^ That's like saying: "The Z engine is the best engine ever."

Which year Supra? Which engine?

.... It's the 2JZ Supra motor that people always talk about... which was not around back when the Cressida was produced.
