Naw, that's not an LSD differential. Since it's not....out of the goodness of my heart, I'd be willing to take it off your hands.

no, no, I'm the one who takes the non LSD rears from the Z31 turbo out of the goodness of my heart. Send me some spare L28 turbo engines while you're at it.

That's an awesome find dude.

If anyone is interested or frustrated so much that they are tired of looking for a 300ZX Turbo LSD in the Junk Yards...

Reider Racing in Michigan carries the Precision Gear Power Brute LSD assembly (Same as the Turbo 300ZX) for $602.95 + shipping. If you're not in MI, that'll save about $50 in taxes.

This is the 12mm unit that can be fitted out with 2mm spacers to fit in our 10mm R200's.

70-7/76 R180 Part # LOM55E = $458.95
7/76-8/83 R180 Part # LOM55L = $584.95
8/87-8/89 R200 Part # LOM59-12 = $602.95

And they have them in stock.

http://www.precisiongear.com/powerbrute.htm

I can't decide whether or not to go with the R180 and stock 3.36 pinion gears on my 240z or drop in the 3.90 300ZX R200 I've got in the garage with the PG LSD...

I'm thinkin' I'll get mad gas mileage with 3.36 R180 and a stock '83 Nissan 5 speed tranny...

Gear__1st_____2nd_____3rd_____4th_____5th
'72___3.592___2.246___1.415___1.000____N/A
'83___3.062___1.858___1.308___1.000____0.745

Once I upgrade the distributor to an E12-80 and a new 2 stage vacuum advance, I would expect to get 30mpg out of my 33 year old car...

Someday I'll make a decision...

If ya hit up that place again, lemme know if you can get me one. I'll pay ya! I've got another project Z that could use it.

the 300zx cv's are too long & have a diff flange on them... so your stuck w/ the 280zx ones.

Yes, the 300ZX Turbo CV axels are stronger than the 280ZX Turbo CV axels. But you'll have to do some fabricating to get the 300zx CV's to work on your 280ZX.

I haven't had any trouble with my 280ZX CV's so far. But I do have 2 spare sets and a set of 300ZX axels in the event I blow the others up.

Arguably, no. The CV axels are generally the strongest 280ZX axels.

How do those items improve gas mileage? (not that I know what they are)

Electronic ignition module from a '79 to '81 280ZX and a two stage vacuum advance module that will pull vacuum from both sides of the carb in addition to the centrifigul advance in the distributor.

Normally, with a single stage vacuum advance, usually pulling from the air box, combined with a centrifugal advance, when you come off idle, the vacuum advance immediately retards and the centrifugal advance kicks in. Unfortunately, there's usually a stumble as the transition is made between the two when too much retard is in play before the centrifugal advance can 'catch-up'.

The beauty of this system is its ability to balance minute vacuum changes generated on both "sides" of the throttle butterfly (live vacuum vs. ported vacuum.)

The result is a constantly changing advance map which retards timing during periods of medium to heavy throttle loads, while allowing the highest advance number to occur only during light cruise throttle loads which will significantly improve fuel economy.

How's that?
