240Z splash shield
#3
no one uses those splash shields because they are TERRIBLE! they block everything, cant even change teh oil with it on, my dads Z is the only one i've ever seen with it on and he pulled it off right away and it's been sitting in the garage since that day. just don't go flying through puddles. if someone wants it for some reason, they will probably pay 30 bucks for it.

Before you toss it, you might want to do a search for "splash" in the windtunnel testing forum on hybridz. That pan has been the subject of a lot of testing and conversation. There are a lot of discussions on how much difference it makes for drag, cooling, intake, underhood pressures, what kind of use or speeds when it becomes important, etc., etc., etc. Sometimes it's a pain to remove for service, but on the other hand it comes off in about 60 seconds with an air ratchet and just rolling under on a creeper. I'm not recommending anything in particular, just that you might want to check out some of that info before you decide to keep/toss. Even if you decide not to use it, you may still want to keep the part. I keep everything I've removed or upgraded. Of course, I can't get in to or use my shed, but...

i do that to! ^^^^ but i have a full car that i cant get into from parts and an entire 8' high by 25' long wall filled as well. and i would keep the splash shield if you plan on racing in that instance. as for normal day to day stuff... not much use if your not driving through puddles. even then i still never had an issue unless i practically submerged the car.

I don't do the driving in rain thing. It's nearly a desert here so I can get away with it, whereas you probably don't have much choice on dry weather. But, it does routinely get up to 100 degrees. I've found I like the more optimized air flow for cooling, especially with the headers.
Odd note on the pan: I got mine powdercoated (it was cheap, with a whole load of other parts), and the guy mentioned it was actually quite a pain, due to the galvanizing finish on the metal.
Happy spring! Hope you're getting some decent driving weather!
Dave
