Dayton style wire wheels

Dayton style wire wheels
Here I go again! My girlfriend thinks I'm spending too much time on my z, but I just can't help myself.
I just bought some very nice Dayton style wire wheels, but the adapters that came with them for some reason doesn't fit. They are 4 lugs universal and in theory they should fit my car. My bolt pattern should be 4x114.3mm/4.5, yet I cant get the adapters all the way in. I tried to "screw" them on with the bolts, but no way. I really don't think I should need to use force to get them on. I know for a fact that the wheels I am replacing are the orig. ones, so I have ruled out any potential "hybrid" hub.
Has anyone had similar problems with wire wheels adapters? It says L4-100/4.25/4.5 on the adapters.
Would love to hear from you

I am so frustrated, and even though nobody came to my "rescue", I am still gone vent. I just spent an entire day trying to fit these wire wheels, and I finally figured it out. They fit in the rear because the drum is flat, but the @%&$@# stupid cone design in the center of the hub in the front has a bigger diameter than the adapter...hence it wouldn't go all the way in...I am so retarded...it took me a hole day to figure this out. I was so bloody fixated on a pontential "hybrid" hub installed by PO and the metric size...mm vs inches...why can't we just convert to metric system...sooo much bloody easier, it's not even funny.
Well at least if you plan on using wire wheel adapters and you happen to see this tread, it should save you some time and give you a happy curse free day. Have to go and wash my mouth with soap...god I am disgusted, dissapointed...and disgusted some more %#@&%@#
yepp, that should do...
