hey buy a little Miller mig welder one of those 90 amp even though they are really spatterey. I also bought a 10 dollar grinder from kragen (had to return one already) and I homemade some body pieces. I am in the process of trying to figure out which rust-prevention to coat the metal with, but so far all i've had to do it buy the welder (110) , some .3" flux wire (15) , a grinder (10), and a couple wheels (15) and it's by far the cheapest way to do rust repair and you'll learn really basic welding, and i really enjoy it so far. I've already made a sweet rat trap, fixed some swings, and obviously some body parts.

Looks like Bad Dog Parts is down to just frame rails now. Too bad, they had some nice pieces.
And here's the Zedd findings ones:

If snw finds his, though, I bet that'd be a better deal.

One quick question those bars behind the front and back bumpers that hold them on what are they for? I got curious and started to unscrew one of em and it started to hiss at me any ideas?

huh? the mounts the very thick horozontally lying ones? they are like gas or liquid filled i beleive for absorbing impact. if you talking about the thin long chrome bars ontop of the bumper they are just to help keep a car from over riding the bumper

Nice nice find! congrats. I myslef had a 78 280z. really torquey car altough a a little heavy for my taste. ( went 1970 240z 6 months later) my advic.e is take care of the rear hatch water accumulating ( design defect) area that all Z's get rust on. that can be a pain if the rust is not taken care of before it turns to cancer. DARKNESS IS SPREADING!!!!" lol. Hmmm i doubt the tranny needs no work done to it. as you stated. the car pretty much SAT there so it hasnt been worn out much. 30 year old car - a decade = a 20 year old car :P NOT BAD OF A PROJECT... i say KEEP IT... do the project. and keep us updated

that's the hydraulic bumper part, it attaches to the bumper so it can withstand a 5mph bump and unscrewing them isn't a good idea, just take off the 4 screws holding each one to the body. go to carfiche.com and download the 77 280z manual, i swear it will save you SO much time, effort, money, resources, useless posts, etc...
