280z face lift

Good morning everyone,

I currently own a 1975 280z and have the opportunity to get a 240z shell. I've read that they both use the same chassis and the difference from the exterior are the front and rear turn signals. I would like to convert my 280z to a 240z and I was wondering if all the interior and drive train of my Z will retrofit in the 240z.

There are a few more differences than just the turn signals. But in a nut shell, yes... most S30 parts are interchangeable with each other, and the front / rear lights are probably the least fun. To do a 240z tail light conversion, you have to hack out the 280z tail light panels.

I'm assuming you really meant that you want to swap all your 280z parts to the 240z, right?

Yes sir. I'm really hoping that it' possible. I would really like to own a 240z body without having to buy another car.

Maybe I'm not understanding you?

You are buying another car... a 240z to put all your 280z parts in, right? Since you will be using the 240z body (shell), you will have to register it.

I pretty sure he means, without buying another complete running driving car. For x amount $$. Good find for a free 240 tho. Whats the condition of it? This swap will take a lot of time to complete and you will have alot of parts to buy. New seals mounts gaskets ect to do it right. Good luck
