emmission fail, need help

If you have a 260Z,280Z or 240Z...why do you need to pass emissions?
Depending on what state you live in, cars over 20-25 yrs old are not required to pass it...
My "1981" 280ZX didn't need emissions testing when it was registered in Boston except in New York where the requirement is over 25 yrs...in a year or so, I will no longer need it.
Your Z is much OLDER, so I don't know why you need it... an INSPECTION STICKER perhaps, but NOT an Emissions test...

Another tip is to retard the ignition timing 2/3 deg form standard
There is also a CO adjustment on the air flow meter try screwing it out
that will lean things out a little as the spring in the air flow meter may
be week ??
