L28e T
I have my engine out of my 78' Z and am ready to start doing the turbo kit. I have the turbo, turbo manifold, waste gate, bov, intercooler, and 82' ZX turbo ecu. I need some help to see were I should go next, what to buy, what to start putting on or taking off...EGR? PCV? Wiring Harness? ECT...Thanx

So you're going to throw the turbo parts, on an N/A L28? A couple guys have pulled that off, but I guess as long as you have the 280Z dished pistons, you'll be ok. You'll need the L28ET wiring harness & some bigger injectors (as in L28ET / Z31T injectors), the turbo distrib, and the fuel pump module (unless you are going to hard wire the fuel pump). Also the L28ET AFM. Those are the basics. I know resources are limited, but it's always easier to start w/ a complete L28ET setup... then you don't have to search out all the damn parts, cuz you got em right in front of ya.

might consider a later P series head as well to bring compression down closer to the L28ET level. Megasquirt is also an option if you can't track down everything you need to make the swap happen. That way you could use your existing distributor and could eliminate the AFM altogether.

If it runs... you know. If you're getting one from a junk yard, you won't really know how good the internals are until you open it up. But you can put a socket on the crank pulley to make sure it's not seized up.
So if you don't want to rebuild, I suggest looking for a running 280zx turbo.

make sure you can turn it over by hand at the least. Check compression as well. Check the sparkplugs for physical damage. Check oil for dilution with coolant. If that all checks out then you've pretty much got a solid base.
