shaving head 0.080 info maybe a new trend, no shims needed
im usually over at zcar and i posted a question related to the head shave and the need for shims, well an scca racer built his head like this,,shaved 0.080,no shims, new timing chain and a z22 chain tensioner, if the chain is still loose, use a z24 timing tensioner. how does this sound?

The problem with this is that there are still 42 links between the timming marks on the sprockets. A decrease of .080 in the distance between the crankshaft and the cam means the cam will be retarded approximately 2 degrees. This can be over come by noting the timing marks and advancing the cam by using one of the three locating holes in the cam. Each hole is 4 degrees. Normally this procedure is used to compensate for chain stretch.

Doesn't sound like there is a problem with it. You set the sprocket #2 position on the bright link and then slide it onto the cam #2 hole. That advances the cam enough to more than make up for the head shaving. Then the idea of the Z22 chain tensioner takes up the slack.
Advancing the chain a little helps if anything with your power. Usually this is done to add some more torque while sacrificing a little high rpm power, but others have said the upper end power is not lost.... so advancing it a small amount won't hurt anything.
