strong vibrations,bad tach
hey fellow zheads,im pressed for time so let me get straight to the point.i have a 77,280z i recently bought,my first concern right now is the strong vibrations i feel mainly in the pedels when i take it pass 3rpm's.is this normal for these cars?second my tachometer seems to stick.see some days it seems to work fine and out of nowhere it would stay at 3or 4rpms and move slightly up or down regardless of what the engine is doing.thanks for any help you can give me.

these vibrations are not normal.... is it directly related to the engine. Will it do these vibrations in neutral, car stopped? It is probably your engine missing.... probably related to your tach not working. The tach works off of an ignition primary signal. If this signal is faulty, then your engine will not run correctly and your tach will act funny. I'm not familiar with which igniton system that comes with the 77 z. Mechanical or electrical...

Bad Vibes
Sounds like bad ujoints on the driveshaft, that causes a heck of vibration.
The tach probably is sticking due to lubrication, afterall it's getting old. DON"T use WD40 to lube it, needs high quality oil like a watchmaker uses.
Do you feel vibration in the steering wheel?
