Ive hit bottom, i cant figure out how to get the airbox off my 280. I have all the bolts and screws off and the intake tube from the AFM is loosened. But how do i get the thing off?? THose two threads at the bottom are stopping me from lifting the thing completely off. I dont want to have to cut them off. Im getting a little agitated.

 

You must have missed one the air box comes right off. You should have 1 screw in the top by the radiator and 2 below. Check you hanes amnual.

 

i can move it up and down, its just those two screws at the bottom don't clear the that support.

 

I have removed all the stuff when I went to a new intake so I cant even look at my 78 to help you any further. Sorry man. I changed mine about 2 yaers ago. The air box should come right off. If the screws are in the way, see if you nedd them if not remove them. Are you putting a K&N intake on? if so all you need is the top mount screw hole. Hope this helps some.

 

yep, im putting the one MSA sells but getting it off ebay. Its about $20 cheaper. I'll wrestle with it. My Haynes Manual makes it seem easy, so, maybe im trying to hard.

 

Youir gonna love the K&N intake. Are you gonna put on the 21/2 exhuast with no CAT? That is what I have with a flow master muffler. I lova the sound and feel. I also have the braided brake lines it make all the difference in the world. Well enjoy man.

 

I have a custom 2.5 exhaust, no emissions, with a magnaflow muffler. My header is a 3-2 but that'll be replaced in the future with a 6-1. Im not looking for any real HP gains, but it wont hurt to put in the K&N.

 

what kind of flowmaster? and what was the price of the muffler? mine got smusshed by a kid that stood on the tail pipe. I have a 2.5 exhaust w/o a cat

 

I dont know the name of the Flow Master or the price It was given to me by a friend. but it does tuck under the car nicely. It doesnt look stupid and huge like the Hondas have.

I want a silver metalflake or light blue metalflake like on the new volvo S60. My friends dad has one and I knew that that was my color.

 

I am going to repaint it this next spring a little lighter blue and some strips. I am also lowering it 11/2 inches.

I can get some vinyl racing stripes from a guy I know that does police cars, termite control trucks, nascar, lemans, and he will do my racing stripes for free except for price of the vinyl which is very good 3M stuff. I can probally get one for you cheap (less than $25) if your z is the same length as mine (260 coupe).
