Not entirely true. The bolt pattern and such is the same, and you can use 280ZX rotors, but there's more work involved to get to that point. At the very least you need to remove the rear brake drum backing plates (PITA), and fabricate/purchase caliper mounting brackets (and the calipers themselves, of course), and the right e-brake connection hardware. Modern Motorsport, MSA, and Arizona Z Car all have a variety of kits showing these parts, if you're interested.
That being said, rear disc conversion isn't that complex or that expensive, and there are even several points on that spectrum (trading off your money for your time) to choose from. Here's an example of good conversion kit:

Note: The upgrade to the Toyota 4x4 4-piston front calipers *is* a bolt-on, inexpensive upgrade. Maybe that's what they were talking about?
