What is this thing?
Trying to identify this thing, maybe a horn relay? It was screwed to the firewall and coated with paint I removed the paint with laquer thinner but the numbers are too faint for me to see. I am thinking the rust hole it it may have caused the internals to suffer and I should replace it...
Thanks,
Craig

It was towards the passenger side about halfway down the firewall. That is as good a picture as my cell phone will take I can snap a better one at home this evening. The numbers I can make out on it are ...25280 8992 on one line then next line ...321
It has 4 wires out of the back into a 4 pin rectangular plug.

Hey Gergstuff I am in Ferndale also...Just picked up a 74 260 a week or so ago. Looks like your in about the same boat as me (trying to figure out where every thing is at, and what it does) May be good to have a local Z enthusiast nearby for the occasional help and chuckanut cruise!!!

When you get the wire colors, I should be able to identify it for sure. I took a closer look at your picture. I believe the full part number is 25230-89924. Searching online, that part number comes up as an Accessory Relay Type K24, so that would tend to support the defroster relay, except for your described location. In the 73, the defroster relay should be on the passenger kick panel, not the firewall, next to the accessory relay. I drew an arrow to it. The dash harness wire colors are white/red, red/black, black, and blue/red.

I will check it out for wire colors, forgot last night, was working on removing the transmission after I realized that I used the 5 speed throw out collar when I should have used the original 4 speed collar...
