200$ Yard Sale Find
My dad called me one Saturday morning telling me that he had found a Z sitting next door to a yard sale he was at. He pestered the lady that was running the yard sale about the owner of the car, and if it was for sale.
She knew the owner, but didn't know whether not he wanted to part ways with the car or not. So she gave my dad the owner's number. My dad called him up and the guy said he would sell it for $200.
When my dad let me know the price I almost didn't believe him. I figured he might have heard the guy wrong. Until I went out to look at the car with him later that afternoon. The car looked pretty rough at first glance. 1975 280 with original motor.
Upon further inspection the car was in surprisingly good shape for sitting in the weeds for several years, uncovered with a rug on top of it. Front bumper is missing, rear bumper is in bad shape. A few rust holes in the doors, left front fender, and the floor pans will have to be partially replaced.
The interior is in rough shape, but most everything is there, except for the door panels. Those are the biggest missing pieces in my mind.
However, there is no body damage, all original glass, and everything in the engine bay is intact. Except for a missing TPS, or whatever the equivalent is on this year car.
The owner was out of town, so after talking on the phone with him we agreed to meet the following day. We found out then that the car didn't have a title. So another reason for the low price. I figured even if I couldn't get it titled, I could part it out and make a profit. So we trailered it home later that evening.

Here are the worst spots on the car.
Passenger Side Door
Driver's Side Door
And under the hood shot.
After getting it home we charged the battery and started doing some tests. All the electrical components work, spark on all six cylinders, motor turns over smooth, but no fuel pressure. The pump is not turning on at all.
So after that, all I have done is pull it into the garage and get it on stands. I registered the car and a new title should be here any day now. Due to a deployment I haven't touched the car at all since I put it on the stands. As long as the title comes back, she will be getting a full restoration.
Thanks for looking.
