240sx or 260/280z
I am looking for a cheap project car, either an older model 240sx around the late 80's early 90's model, or a Datsun 260z or 280z I have been getting a lot of info on the 280z and think it has lots of nice potential. You can basically put almost anything in it, And I hear a skyline engine will fit!!! (the RB26DETT would cost more than the car itself) But I am tossed up on what to do. I am still keeping my P11 (Infiniti G20) as the daily driver But does anyone have any input on what they think I should buy? the 240, or the 280z? I don't know to much about the 240's except that I think they are AWD and some have the SR20DET's in them and the others have the KA24DE. Does anyone else have more input??? I like the Datsun because it dose'nt look like a "ricer" and looks alot meaner, plus has a great potential out here in las vegas to be a great sleeper. I am positively keeping my buying decision in the Nissan family forshure. But can I get some constructive imput? I am thinking a 280z with the fuel injection with a 5 speed trans, and swapping the turbos from the ZX on later. I was also thinking going with the 260 in a manual trans, swaping in the 280 engine and then swaping the turbos over... Are these things fesable?

Re: 240sx or 260/280z
The 240Z is much ligther then the 280Z so it won't take as much
HP to get it to run fast. You can go a few ways on the engine.
Yes, the RB will fit with lots of $$$$$$ and fabrication. You can also
use a turbo motor out of a 280ZX in it. The other swap is a V8
into the 240Z. Now for the 240SX, it can be made to handle
better then the 240-280Z. It also is almost a drop in for the
SR20DET . That was the engine used outside the US in them.
The 240sx internet club could help with you with that info.
