260Z, 74 or 74.5? Performance tips?
I just got this car for a free from a friend who doesn't have the finances to fix it. It ran in August but hasn't been started since. We were told that it was a 74 260, but are not sure if it is a 74 or 74.5. How do we tell? It has dual Webers, kind unkonwn, a clean engine (no signs of leaks), minor rust, no floor pan rust, interior needs to be redone. His mechanic said that it would cost around $900 to get it back up and running in road worthy condition. I have about 3k to drop into it and would like to redo the suspension, exhaust and interior. Any suggestions? Check out my profile to view the pics and tell me what you think. All tips and suggestions welcome.
Thanks,
Jason

Jason well from the looks of the bumpers it is an early 74' 260Z. Nice Z for free. Also look above the door latch at the silver plate it will have some numbers on it and the production date. Since the car is not running I suggest going through and checking and replacing engine parts, and give it a tune up. Pull the webs and soak them in Gas or Chem dip for a couple of days to free up the gunk. Make the car run then check the brakes and make sure steering is tight. As for suspension I would start with new bushing all the way around, then get spring and struts with sways. Or if you got the cash do it all together. If you need any other help or web addresses for parts send me a private message or e-mail. Goodluck
