260Z gear shif ****

Hello everyone,

I'm going to try this one more time. I have an early 260Z it has the wooden gear shift ****, the type that is in the 240Z. I'm trying to find out if it is original. I've had two different answers to my question one was of the opinion since it is an early Z it came with it, another opinion is that it should have the black leather one with the green shift pattern on top. I know this is a small problem, since the vehicle only has 27,203 miles on it I don't have any mechanical questions to ask, sorry.
thank you
Brant

First I should of said it is a 4 speed manual transmission, I keep forgetting they put auto's in them , I don't get it, an auto in a sports car but hey to each his own.
Next, thanks for the info to conctact my Nissan dealer, I'll try but I'm not holding my breath, I needed the carbs rebuilt on mine and they wouldn't touch it, they recommended a shop however and he did an excellent job, required two more visits to get them dialed in correctly but no complaints here.

yozsi is correct. Early 260's at least, had the cheap fake leather wrapped *****.

I've still got it on mine.

Thanks to both of you for responding, I had been told the early 260's had the wooden one but didn't think so this confirms it. Now I've got to try and get the other off, it won't budge.
