260z Tachometers
I have a 75' 260z and the Tacho don't work. It just sits above zero while the car is on. The only time I can see it move is when I'm giving the car a real rev say 6k and it flicks and that's when I know it's time to change gears. The previous owner said before I bought it off him that it had been playing up lately and he had a spare 260z tacho which he bought from a wrecker I assume. Anyway It was the first thing I did when I got the car home I put in the new tacho but the problem remained. My Z specialist said that 260z tacho's often fail but 240z tachos were better because they were made by different people. Anyway he said that I'd really need to get the thing reconditioned. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem and is a reco tacho the answer is should I be looking at a wiring problem.
Thankz Fellaz.

Re: 260z Tachometers
Well I've worked out it's not the Tacho that's faulty. It's something to do with the wiring. Does anyone know what could cause it not to work is there any area's I should check?
Does the tacho connect to the distributor on the same piece of wire as the water tempreture wire. I have been looking franticly trying to get this problem sorted out. I think it could be dirt or something at one of the connection points giving it a bad connection because if I have my indicator on I can see it move slightly. Anyway I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me because I haven't had a working Tacho for a year almost.
