5 speed swap problem
hey guys. I'm currently in the process of swapping a 5 speed into my 76 280z. I bought a 5 speed from a guy and he told me it came out of a 260z . and was mated to a l26. I bought it, and it mated to the l28, but the transmission is crooked. I put it into the car properly and the 5 speed was both too short and it was slanted, making it unable to mount the crossmember. it seems like the guy is bullshitting me, so I wanted to see if anyone knew something about the way it sits. the shift **** is a slide over type he said, and that I could use a 240sx or zx shift **** on it, if that gives any clue as to what kind of transmission it is. ill post pics in a bit. thanks for the help b4hand, and if im just retarded, and its a simple fix, please, by all means, tear me a new one...hahaha

5/Spd trans not fitting correctly
Yes it is a 240 SX trans and will not fit correctly to your L series engine. You need an L series 5/spd transmission. With that said where are you located ? I have a rebuilt and another good used 5/spd that is made to fit your motor. If interested send me a p/m with your e/mail address and i'll p;ost some pics.

The 240SX transmission can be used, but it takes plenty of work.

Drive shaft gap after 240sx Transmission conversion / swap in 280z - S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z - HybridZ
How badly do you want to use that transmission?

That looks like the wrong SX trans for the swap anyways... It should be longer than a z trans not shorter :/
EDIT:
Upon further research that's a 4 speed...
