72 240z bought in canada

Hey guys....just joined so hope i dont sound too stupid.

In 1980...when I was a younger lad....i bought a used 72 - 240z. It had many features that i rarely see on the ones online or for sale...was just wondering
if canada had some special features....or what was up. Im sorrry im not that
knowledgeable...seeking to learn much more as it was the best car of my life
and now that im an older fart of 44...want to get another as unique as my first one.

My car had the following...which i dont see much of...

-fancy hub caps...dark black with emblazed logo
-leather wrapped steering wheel....not wood
-leather shift ****...black..not wood
-grab type bars on both front and back bumpers.

Were these just options? were they specific to canada? Just curious as
Id love to relive my past and try and find one exactly the same.

It went like hell and was the greatest ride i ever had. At 16....back in 80...
I spent $400 on an ANSA exhaust system...triple webbers.I used to race all the muscle cars back then...chevelles, novas, etc...and won most of the time. I was the coolest kid in school and i really loved being different. Great days....fill me in...im one giant ear.

thanks...

jay

lame ^^^ WELCOME!

if you bought it in 1980 used its probably just after market stuff its no big deal at all. as for the hub caps, no clue. and the over ride bar's were on the 260Z and later 240Z's bumpers so they might've gotten swapped. leather Z wheel could be aftermarket or from a 280z same with the shift ****.

boo^^^ over ride bars came on the '72 and '73 too. That steering wheel, **** are after market. The hubcaps could be special or dealer custom.

I dont think the steering wheel or shifter **** was aftermarket. It had a
Z logo in the middle. Wasnt any momo knockoff...very stock looking.

I dunno

Welcome to ZDriver!
Congrats on your purchase and re-joining the Z owners.
Looks like the other guys have the "what were those parts" questions covered. The obvious follow-on is "where can I get parts now?"
There are some threads and stickies around here for that, but here're a couple of fun places to start looking:

http://www.blackdragonauto.com/
http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php

cheers,
Dave
