Best Air Damn
What is the absolute best, most functional air damn? How do you guys rate the BRE spooks? How about rear spoilers? How is the BRE style rear deck lid spoiler as far as keeping the rear of the car down? I am talking 240z by the way. Thanks for the help.

Re: Best Air Damn
BRE spook airdam probably works very well... but then again, any airdam/tail is an improvement to the Z because it creates 100 lb of lift at about 100mph. Go with what's been proven to work - the BRE airdam is very successful (Pete Brock seemed to be happy with it), and the useful tail would probably be the whale tail used on the ZX-R, ala porsche style

Re: Best Air Damn
If you are not going over 100MPH these items do nothing but look good. But if you tend to drive on the wild side go with a spoiler that has about an inch to inch and one half kickput this will cause better down force. Also the rear tail should push the *** end down to keep body lift a whale tale seems to be the best for this function. Remember you side skirts also play an important part by keeping air out from under your car. The Idae is to have as much air as possable pass over you car and as little as possable get underit. Aero kits only work if you have the suspension and tires to help do the job right otherwise its all for show not GO.

First of all you need to let us know what you need a rear air dam for .
Are you road racing , autocrossing , or for just the street. The biggest
biggest problem with a Z is front lift, so a front air dam would be more
important. Unless you are racing at speeds over 100 then the rear air dam
you see really don't generate enough down force to do you any good.

I don't think you would notice any difference with the BRE. I mounted one
on my car and took it off a few weeks later. Now I have more holes in my
hatch. I already had a few from the louvers that were on there .

They do look kewl though !! ....
if you have a look at the airflows over the car you would probably find that a) the air pretty much flows over the top of it cause its so small or b) it's in slow turbulent air already so it doesnt really do anything any way

Re: Best Air Damn
My car is street car and oes see over 100mph once or twice a month. lol Anyway, I did add MSA front airdam and rear decklid spoiler on my 280z and it does make difference even under 100mph. no more getting blown away when you fly by a 18 wheeler on the interstate or fish tailing on the rain on the highway. I also notice the better 80-100 mph accelaration. IMO

Re: Best Air Damn
The whole BRE concept was that the airdam would serve as a brake cooler so that they could pass it off as one seeing as the rules didn't allow spoilers on cars if it didn't come from the factory.
The front air damn will do something I'm sure of it. I had a 260z with a fairly large front bar that did help heaps. The rear spoiler I'm not so sure about.
