I found this diff at the junkyard , it is out of a nissan , does anyone think it will fit into my 75 280Z??? is it an R200 LSD???? I am not 100% sure on how to identify so I thought I would ask

It looks like an S13 or S14. It is an R200 & it is most likely a viscous LSD.

yer it looked like a S13 turbo LSD, i've already tried to see if these well fit, some modifications would be needed to fit.. worth it... 3.9 LSD nissan quality

Yes, well, to clarify my 'won't fit' statement I should have said it won't be a bolt-in.

If they do fit with 'minor' mod's, then getting an LSD for a Z in AUS will never get any earier!!! [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]

they can fit underneath there.. but ud have to do alota moding, and its not worth it, might as well get a 280zx diff andgive it to a diff place and get them to make it LSD, or get a proper Nismo one.. that be cool

well I am goin back to the picknpull this weekend and I will tear the diff apart to see if its LSD or not. if so I will buy it and see how to make it work. if not I will leave it there in a big *** pile for other people to view. )

 

How much would that diff go for in Aus? I mat pick one up, cause as Ben said s13's are a dime a dozen- plus all the wrecked ones from teenagers buying them and spinning them out on the first corner, even if it is tough i wouldn't mind looking in to it.

I expect (but don't quote me on it) that you could put the LSD centre into a 'regular' R200. You wouldn't be able to use the R & P as the pinion gear would be far too short.

One day, when I have funds flowing from my pockets, I'll buy one & check out the theory.

Another problem could be that we may have only the 10mm R200's here (as in 260Z/280ZX/300ZX). I'm not sure if there was a changeover date to the 12mm ring gear, or whether it was an LSD only thing.

Come to think of it, the stub axles are completely different too, probably the dual-size spline viscous thing (like the viscous R180's from 910's etc). The more I think about it, the more it seems like it won't go.

Can anyone clarify this?
