don't cut!

I have a 70 Z and I am about to put zx disc on the rear. If I understand what you mean, you need to remove the clip on the cable were the rubber coated part ends. Pry it towards the rear of the car and it will pop out. Then pull the rubber coated part away from the brake assembly and out through the slot. Then you can loosen the two nuts that secure it to the lever. There is a good picture in Clymer "Datsun Repair Hand book" I can send you a picture if you need it.
