fuel problem? please help!
1974 260z w/ 240 SUs w/ k&n air, GM HEI, smog pump disabled, very sexy condition car, timing checked, spark plugs new, engine only approx. 70k miles on it (have insurance records)
enter a month ago...
going up a hill approx. 55mph in 4th...my fuel cuts and my engine doesn't rev even though i have pedal down...jerks...shift to 3rd, does the same...pop the clutch and rev the engine, go back into 3rd and it gets me up the hill...pop it into 4th and it starts cutting on me again...
my Z is not a daily-driver...more like a weekend twice a month type thing...now it cuts like this all the time--just randomly...
today i went to get a haircut in it, hit the interstate, cruised around...had a good time--no problems...on the way home i'm accelerating in 4th from 40-65 on a backroad and it cuts...
it has done this almost every time i've driven it since the hill incident...it won't go past 85-90mph atall anymore either...
any ideas? anything would be helpful as i'm out of ideas for myself...

it WAS the fuel filter...and a short from my coil to my distributor >_< argh to GM HEI...but now i think i set my carbs wrong...i hold the gas in second at 20 or 25...just holding it steady...five seconds later it throws me back into the seat and i'm on my way to 45. Could this be because i perhaps set one carb way stronger than the other?
