Headliner
Has anyone replaced their headliner? Mine is crappy. Its orange and the rest of the interior will be black. I've read that you can simply install a new headliner overtop of the old one... anyone with some experiences to share? Its on a 72 240z.

Re: Headliner
Hey rich, the headliner is a real pain. You can glue another one over im sure as long as the old one is firmly in place! Go to your local upholstry shop for foam backed material to do it with!

Re: Headliner
Just thinking that if I leave the old one in place, then I shouldn't have to worry too much about the added insulation from the foam backing, since the origional has it still. I think I can probably get by with just getting some vinyl or leather and adhereing it right on there without more foam...
I really should make a trip up to the upholstery shop, I want to look into redoing my door panels among other things...

Re: Headliner
if the stock headliner is ok...then i would just cover it with whatever.....but if it is ok...and you just wanna change the color........did ya think about dyeing it? never gets toughed...be a lot easier and no chance of any wrinkles.

Re: Headliner
The foam isn't for insulation, it is to prevent any wrinkles. I replaced the headliner in my Blazer a few years ago and it is still holding up pretty good. It CAN be an easy job but you can't rush it. It's like wraping a Christmas gift, take your time to do it right and it will look pretty good.
