HELP-Anyone familiar with compression ratios??
I would like someone who KNOWS FOR SURE what the compression ratio would be of a '83 280zx turbo block and rods, standard sized flat top pistons which rise a little above the deck height, and an E31 head with no metal removed from underneath. I have this new set up on my '70 240z and was told that it may be putting out around 11:1 compression and it was dieseling when i cut it off, so i plopped in an HKS 2mm head gasket to lower compression. Now some of its get up and go is gone and I'm wondering if the bigger head gasket is really necessary and if the dieseling wasn't a product of something else. Thanks for ALL help-taylor

Re: HELP-Anyone familiar with compression ratios??
I don't think the head gasket has anything to do with your dieseling. Your mixture could be too rich or your plug isn't hot enough. Your timing could be off. You could have a short in your ignition which is highly unlikely. but try all the other stuff first. Send me your e-mail and I can send you an engine program, that David (1TUFFZ) sent to me. Or you can send him a private message and ask for him to send it to you.
