Daniel, found a couple more California Z's for sale on the ZONC website. Here is the link:

http://www.zonc.org/107znewAD.pdf

They look to be in your price range. I don't know these guys, so I can't vouch for them, but you might want to give them a call to see how these cars compare to the others you are looking at. Good luck.

Bah turns out I'm not going to get the 50K mile Z. We already arranged the price and everything, but it all comes down to him not being able to meet on Thursday and I'm leaving back to China on Friday. He said the weekend is his only time so there it goes. On another note, my dad's considering buying a '95~ Porsche 911 Turbo come this summer..

I'm pretty sure its a stock color, the first picture just seems to be off (colorwise that is) You can see the true color in the 2nd and 3rd, the regular silver. Says its all original unrestored with a perfect dash

Here are some older pictures that the owner sent me.. These date back to at least June of this year, probably older. I noticed the thing on the roof wasn't a towel, it appears to be some kind of wires or something? I e-mailed him about it. Anyway, the car looks to be relatively straight, minus a few things I'll point out in a sec. Can you guys help me spot anything that is mis-aligned, unoriginal, or other things you notice?

Everything looks good in this first picture, MAYBE a slight gap on the left of the hood more so then on the right?

The obvious thing would be whatever is on the roof of the car, can't make out what it is in this picture.. Perhaps behind the front wheel, the picture looks a bit blurry.. could be bad paint, rust bubles.. Although he said the car had absolutely no visable rust.

Here is where you can see a little more of the 'wires' i talked about on the roof, still cant quite make it out though. Besides that, everything looks pretty straight, clean, and rust free.

Here is where you can really see the top of the car from a clear angle. I don't know what the things are, but I'm awaiting a response from owner. Perhaps you guys know what that is? Only other concern is the hatch not closing straight. I've noticed this with a lot of Z's and I wonder if it doesn't bother some of you? Clear gap on the left side of the hatch and the right side doesn't line up completely?

All looks good here, supposedly a perfect dash under that carpet cover!!

Sporting tripple carbs, although I hear the originals will be put back on and tuned or have already been since the picture was taken.. Anything I should worry about? Aside from that, looks pretty clean..

Looks very clean, no signs of rust in the regular under-hatch area.

Should I be worried that he wants to put the original carbs back on? Perhaps because theyve been sitting for who knows how long?

If you have that much to throw at a car?, why settle for a Z? I mean, I love my piece of S--t! But you can get a used Porsche, Vette, whatever for that much. If you really must have a Z, get a fixer upper. Make it "Yours"! I bought mine for $400, and it needs everything. But I love to drive it! Sounds to me like you are a collage kid and mom and dad are paying the bills. When you work for $11.00 an hour and have to save every penny to buy the headers you want or some nice 15" tires and rims, then the Z Dream is REAL! It's all about the love! I've owned a 1980 chevy monza (350 conversion) a 1981 vette, a 86 escort, 88 nissan 4x4, 93 saturn, 71 f100, 98 dakota 4x4, 88 town car, and of course my 75 280Z! Each one needed love! Don't think in the box, "It has to be a s-30 with original paint" let the "make it mine juices flow" Love the car for what it is! The car can't change, you can! Look at the ugly betty's, spend the cash, make it "Your's" Make it one of a kind. You have the power to build a dream, don't be a Lemming! If you need transportation, by a beater, put the Z in the garage and make it a one and only! Best of luck! Live the dream! God Bless!

I totally agree. I could name off 20 cars I'd buy if I had $10k to blow... none of them would be a stock 240z... or a Z at all for that matter. I love Z's, but I sure as hell wouldn't waste my $10k on one... and I say that because I have well over $10k into my 280zxt... and it just sits in the back of my garage.

I'm shocked at you guys! For under $10000, a Z is definitely my favorite old sports car. Sure I'd like to have a 911...or a '63 Vette....but I don't think you'll get those for under 10K. The only Porsches you'll get for that price would be an old 924 or 944, the only Vette maybe a '70s Vette, all pretty cool cars.....but I'd rather have the 240 or 280Z. Because they are afterall, a Datsun!

The people who "think" those cars are out of that price range... will never own one. I've found very few of my cars via the internet. Usually someone I know gives me a reference, or I drive by a car I really want & haggle the price.

Heck, even on the internet you can find 'em for reasonable deals. I just searched on collectorcartraderonline.com for any pre-1990 Porsche 911 under $10k and got at least a dozen hits (not including the Call For Price ones, which are certainly not under 10k). I got my Z first because it's my all-time favorite car. Porsche or others might come later. But NismoPick's right, there are some great deals on great cars. It just takes time and patience.

No offense to "SportBikeMike", (Nice Z by the way) But isn't it about "YOUR" car. Make it your's! Just because Datsun never made a Zcar Mopar Green or Chevy Shaker Orange, doesn't mean you can't! I noticed that your front bumper is missing! It's your choice! (I took mine off too, want to put on a 240/260 bumper instead). Live the dream, Make it your's! Factory is for the Barret Jackson Auto Auction! Live it, Love it, DRIVE IT!!!

Thanks and I totally agree about personalizing your car. I currently have carbon fiber bumpers and a Xenon front air dam sitting in my garage. Just haven't put them on yet.

Wow...I had no idea you can get 911s that cheap. Might have to check Ebay! (although the Z is still my favorite)

I apologize in advance for the damage this knowledge may cause to your bank account. I'm almost afraid to finish my Z, because then it opens the door to all sorts of new projects It sure will be great to have it done, though.

Yeah I've already been looking around on Ebay at 911s....starting about ten minutes after I read your post lol! But I just bought a new bike and the 240 still needs work, so won't be buying one quite yet. Still fun to look though!
