horn not working

horn not working
hi,
my horns used to work and no longer do.
I have checked the fuse - and put a new one in just in case.
when i press on the horn i get a click noise out of the ignition but no beeping out of the horns.
So i assume that there is no problem with the horn mechanism on the steering wheel due to the clicking i am getting when the horn is pressed.
I have done the old trick of two wires and a lightbulb between the two connections where the horns join at the front of the car with the ignition in the "on" position.. and the bulb does not light up which suggests to me that there is no current making it to the actual horns.. my question is what should i do next to get them to work???
any help appreciated
thanks,
Peter

Trace out your short. Once you find that you have it solved. If you want to make sure it iant the horn, then just tap the positive end with a wire from the battery. If it beeps you are good there. I would then trace things back from there. Are you running a factory or after market steering wheel? I would also take andtest those wires.
Good luck

Try taking the steering wheel off and you'll see the sliding contact that rubs the back side of the steering wheel. Clean this up with steel wool / emory cloth / fine sandpaper - something, and I bet it works. Just mark the alignment on the steering wheel bolt first so you can put it back straight.
