There are lots of posts along that line. The easiest thing to do is to do a search for mods or 82 280zx.

Put on some bolt-on intake and exhaust stuff to free up the breathing of your engine. K&N cone filter, 2.25" exhaust pipe and your choice of muffler.
Most importantly, get a 4.11:1 R200 differential. This will make the most difference. Besides that, it depends on how much more money you have an how much work you are willing to put into tearing the engine apart. If you want this for a daily driver or it is your only car, just stick with the basics I have listed. You'll have a decently fast n/a 280ZX.

Only the 1985 and 86 200SX Turbo has the 4.11 in an R200 gear width.
1984-87 200SX n/a has a 4.11 R180
I'm not sure what the V6 200SX had. Maybe a 3.9 That was made about 1987

you should check into a 240 sx 60 mm throttle body, replace your injectors with turbo ones, and upgrade your coil with a stronger one. this alone will make a big difference and then you can always build from there.
also check out clifford performance.com they make cams and headers, intake manifolds great site
good luck
i love my 81

TURBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
hehe It can't be that hard with a 280zx cost a couple of thousand and you'll go much faster than before. Upgrades are easier if that doesn't do it for you etc...
Extractors are what $400 , K+N filter = $50 , Full Exhaust system = Anywhere from $300 - $1000 depending on quality. If you get injectors etc.. it will all add up in the end. I personally think you should save your money and after you get a couple of G's together go turbo. But it depends on really your situation like budget, where you drive, what u intend to use the car for etc...

For my car in USD
Extractors (headers) $160
Custom Exhaust 2.5 inch $200
K&N filter with intake tubing $100
Motorsport large throttle body $180 (sticky throttle, maybe not as good as a 240SX throttle)
Crane Cams PS40 coil $40
all for maybe +15hp and a small loss in low end torque.
yes, in hindsight I should of saved some money, sold my 280ZX and bought a 280ZX turbo. I do NOT recommend the Motorsport throttle body. it sucks! :-) hehe... but maybe the 240SX one has better throttle action. I think mine is a 65mm... possibly too big for an n/a
Things I would change... stock throttle body, and 2.25 exhaust pipe with stock exhaust manifold. much quieter and more smooth torque curve right from idle. Now I get a rush of power at 3000 rpm and not much power below that.
