I bought the z
I will post pics later today. On Saturday I waited all day for the owner to get home at 1oclock after his tennis match and after that I told him that I had his money. Then after I paid him we were trying to figure out how to get it to my house which is a mile away. Any we decided to get some old 1/2 in. rope and pull it very slow to my house. I will post the pics of the clean and gutted and sanded z got to go

Nice! Headlight covers, air dam, really clean engine! Is that an L28?
...and you towed your new Z using a rope... and the brakes dont' work well?!? you're crazy! Hope it was just down the street from your garage.

first of all I only had to take the z 1.1 miles on 25 mph roads going about 10 mph. I took off the headlight covers because one was cracked and the other was dirty on the inside. The engine is a stock L26 block, I am going to check with the company that rebuilt the engine to see if they know what is in the engine. I have put a new battery, distributor rotor and cap, spark plug wires, bosch platinum spark plugs, new fuses, new oil and oil filter. I need new drivers seat hardware (just the actual seat not the slider or seat back), center console. Tonight I just ordered a rebuilt starter that will be here on wednesday morning.

I have a set of seats out of my 280Z they should fit perfect. They are brown though. If you dont want to go factory you might want to check into a set of Miata seats. I picked up a par out of a junkyard for 100 bucks. The required a little bit of mod but nothing severe. Also if you are ocer maybe 5'10' you might want to go a different route. Well good luck with the car.

Let me explain my idling situation.
When I start the z it idles for a few minutes in high idle and then when it comes to low idle most of the time it will stall unless I do some quick gas punching and choke yanking to get it to get back in high idle. My other problem is when I rev it up to about 3500 to 4000 RPM somthing has a vacumm leak, hisses, and stalls but I can't save it with any amount of gas or choke.
The reason the last owner stopped driving the Z is because the starter was "dead" but all it us to get it to work was a good thwacking with a wrench and it will start about 2 to 5 five times before it needs to be hit again.

what is the idle screw supposed to be set at? Right now it is about 9mm out from the metal that holds the screw. should I put new oil in the carbs and what kind? If I buy some carb cleaner, what type should I get? There are so many things on this car that are jerry-rigged that I will have to spend at least $50 to get screws and bolts that are all the correct size, about half of the bolts are SAE and the other half are metric. In fact when we put new fuses in the passenger side fusebox some of the fuses were 20 amp fuses when they were supposed to be 10 amp and there was a very stressed 10 amp fuse in a 20 amp slot. And several cases of 15 amp fuses in 10 and 20 amp slots. But now all of the fuses are correct.

When I had a 240Z I used Marvel mystery oil in my carbs. It work beutifully. As for the screw setting You just need to play with it. As for the bolts well that is a whole nother ball game and good luck with that. Try the Marvel mystery oil see how that works you can also put a little in you gas tank to help clean the fuel system.
