Did the injectors today, those black rings are the ones that go around the middle of the injectors.
The exploded view of the injectors i posted above from the Haynes manual is wrong, the part labeled #2 is backwards in that diagram, if you try it their way the bolts won't even reach.
She started up and ran but has a high idle thing, will play with it tomarrow and see whats up, might be the cold start valve stuck on, need to make a plate to cover the hole.
I did have the heat shields on the old injectors but they were installed at the top instead of the bottom and probaly fried the old ones.

OK , she runs like the well oiled machine she is now!!
Turns out the idle screw was backed out all the way, while you screw it IN to lower RPM! The idle was normal before because of all the vacuum leaks.
Got rid of all the stuff i wanted to, here's a before/after shotof the engine. She hadn't run in 7 years!! Its so sweet to rescue a beautiful auto.

On the right wall i took off the charcoal cannister, the AC vacuum tank and selinoids, on the motor i took off or disabled the BCCD, the air reg and line, the ERG and its other little tower and lines, the lines to the charcoal cannister, the AC fast idle and AC belt, and the stock air box,the vacuum switching valve(tranny controled advance), the dash pot,and the BPT valve.
I ran the air vent for the gas tank over the the air intake/filter.

By the way, if you scap the charcoal can, DO NOT hook a vacuum line to line that is left, its a vent for your gas tank and needs air for the gas level to drop. Thats why mine is vented near the air filter and not hooked to the intake boot as you had said.

I took off all that smog stuff. ran the vent line out by the overflow bottle, removed the choke and the car fired up without any issues even in -3 degree weather. It idles a little low when I first start it but after I let it run for about 5 seconds it goes up to 750 like it should. I do want to know did you remove the water junction that is mounted on the intake manifold under the fuel rail? I am thinking of just taking it out and route the tubes together. Let me know what you think. I see that you primered yours. I am going to leave mine polished. It is going to take a little work but I think it is worth it.

I am going to remove that part, (thermal vac valve), right now it is pushed up over the edge near my radiator, figure like you said, i'll cut and splice it will a small section of pipe and hose clamps.
When I do take the Air Intake manifold off i will get it bead blasted for sure but it was painted a wierd blue when i got it and it hasn't been off yet (didn't look like any fun, hooking the new clutch master cyl to the pedal was hard enough, lol)
Just got a 1977 Datsun Brochure off Ebay today, here's the stock 280z shot:

Aren't they hubcaps
I believe those are hub caps on the standard steel rims. You see them come up quite often on ebay. I could be wrong, but don't think so. Check out this site they say they have them for $45 each http://www.hubcaps.org/z.html Just my 2 cents worth. The de-smogging seems to be coming along fine. Glad my 70 240Z comes sans all that stuff. Wish I could afford a European balance tube to clean it up even more. Gary

Hubcaps on Ebay
Of course I couldn't find these on e-bay the first time I looked under active and completed auctions, but came across them on another search. Of couse I just searched 280Z hubcaps and not 280 Z hubcaps. Here's the site:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2453240545
