L24 crank seal question
My L24 is leaking oil past the crank seal that goes in the timing chain cover. Is it possible to change the seal w/o removing the timing chain cover?
The seal does go in from the front of the cover. My thought is if I remove the balancer and radiator I can access the seal and save myself some headaches. Any thoughts out there?

Re: L24 crank seal question
Hey Rusty! I believe I know what your talking about it's a little ring called a oil thrower according to the haynes manual. When I had to remove my timming cover because of a snapped bolt for the water pump . I found that my oil thrower had been bent pretty bad so I thought I'd get myself another one and I'm glad I did now. The only way you can get it on is to remove the timming cover I believe good luck and get new gaskets just a tip.

L24 crank seal update
Just completed the task of removing the old seal and installing the new one. Piece of cake. Looks like the bone head who installed the last seal bunged up the seal during installation.
Either way the job took only an hour (i'm slow). Simply remove the radiator and fan. No big deal. Man I love the way the early Z's were engineered.
