New to forum, new to Zs!

Total Z n00b checking in here. I had been actively searching for a "fun" ride to work when I don't ride the Monster. With the help of Craigslist and a deploying private contractor selling all his vehicles, my search has ended.

I purchased a 1978 (I think, gotta check the ad to be sure) 280Z. It seems to have been modded a little by prior owners. Current owner hasn't done anything but drive it.

The good:
Triple Mikunis, 5-speed, all guages work, interior 95% original and in good shape, Konig Rewind wheels, runs great, structural rust (shock towers, frame bits etc) minimal, T-tops that don't leak, still has louvers on back, 87,000 miles (too good of shape to have flipped the ODO & for the price, even if has flipped once it's worth it)

The bad:
Expected body rust & rear hatch rust, bottom front piece (non-structural) bent a little, a little cold natured, it's not in my driveway yet!

All for $2500.

So, I'll be scouring all the info I've seen on here for a little help figuring out what all has been done to the car & how to keep it running good.

EDIT for pics:

Wheels - I think they're Konig Rewind

Driver's floor pan, not too shabby, passenger side similar

Upgraded ignition:

K&N filters with insulating cloth over exhaust manifold. Some rust on header & collector but not any worse than my 2002 truck.

Not sure what this is, but it was the only part of the car that had any grease buildup on it. Just under intake filters:

Intakes for vents slats showed a good bit of rust, but, the area underneath had none.

Front corner of driver's door, passenger side about the same. A little body work will be in order.

Welcome to ZDriver!

Looks like you've found a good project. Any pics of the actual (entire) car?

Thanks for the welcome! I'll pick the car up Friday and get some better shots over the weekend. Those were just ones I grabbed as I check out the car for further reference. Overall, it's a pretty solid car. I'm looking forward to driving it home!

The "unknown" part is the crankcase vent part of the PCV system.

I suggest hooking it up properly.

Thanks for ID'ing the part, it was firmly attached at the other end. Once I get it home, I'll check out where/what to do with it. I've already grabbed a PDF service manual for it.
