Does anyone know where i can get a 72 midnight blue 240Z? I'd like to recreate a real life Devil Z with it.

In case you didn't know the Devil Z actually does or at least did exist. It was a specially modified Speed Shop Shinohara or SSS 240Z. I found the specs over on HybridZ.org. They're as follows:

Engine-
P90A head, F54 block, both sourced from an '83 Turbo 280ZX
Triple Mikuni side-draft carburetors, 47mm bore [?]
Twin Garrett T3/T04 hybrid turbochargers
HKS SuperSequential Blow Off Valve
Custom fabricated intake plenum, 47mm velocity stacks
Custom grind camshaft, 290* duration [?], .510 lift [?]
Forged internals, ceramic coated forged dished pistons [7.4:1 CR]
Claimed 620BHP@6000, TQ unknown

Trans-
Nissan/Borg Warner T5 5-speed, non-"World Class"
Twin-plate Ogura [?] clutch

Diff-
R200 VLSD sourced from '87 300ZX Turbo Special Edition

Suspension/Body-
SSS [Speed Shop Shinohara] coilovers, custom valving
Custom sway bars [SSS?]
SSS custom 8-point cage
Takata 5-point harnesses
Bride racing buckets

Brakes-
R32 4-piston front calipers, cross-drilled/slotted 11.5" rotors [F], cross-drilled/slotted 11.5" rotors, calipers unknown

But the Devil Z can be any 1970-1978 S30Z.
The real "Devil Z" was actually used in the Wangan Midnight movies. Or at least for parts of it.

The Devil Z has a total of 800 HP is it possible to get it up that high?

Theoretically I'm sure it's possible. Mechanically pulling it out of the L28ET is gonna take some work. Besides if you hit 600HP on an L28ET vs. 800HP on L28ET in a basically stripped S30Z. It's not gonna matter too much.

I would say before you're worried about getting 800HP try and get a hold of an S30 and an L28ET to start. You'll have plenty of power for that light of a car anyway. Once you've got all that going, then start working with upping the car. The manga does exaggerate horsepower a good bit more.

I hope you're not the highest bidder. For what you want I would recomend a rolling chasis. Not a prestine 240 that has survived the ages. Plus you'll save bundles if you go with a shell and source everything you need.

And Blackcrow, realistically how much power do you wanna make? And how much are you willing to spend? Knowing this can give you a much better picture in what to look for in terms of engines.

Honestely if you what at least 600hp I would be looking V8... taking into consideration that such numbers are easier to get to and would probably require not so extreme of high octane gas. As a matter of fact Ive seen on Horesepower TV a couple guys built a "small block" 427 that pushed over 600hp crank with premium gas.

Later,

Allen
I'd spend about $20,000-$30,000 and i was thinking about getting a RB26DETT engine into it but how much are they?

$20 to $30K I wouldn't be messing with a Z... I'd be buying a C5 Corvette & slapping on a supercharger.

Who knows, you maybe able to find a hell of deal like an other hybridz member that got an entire rb26 and tanny for $400 dollars in a Hong Kong junk yard, what a deal!!!

In terms of the rb26 it's said that the engine is just a undertunned race engine aka the Godzilla engine of japan. It's said that the internals can withstand up to 600hp before the need of going inside the engine. Although I've read this, check for youtself and read, read, read.

Hope thats helps!

Allen
Thank you for the help i really apreciate it and will update you guys on my progress. Also do you think it would be better to get the RB26 engine or the VQ35DE engine since its the engine of the 350Z

With just $20 K you can get a much faster 240Z. When i'm done my Devil Z will pwn any Corvette with a supercharger.

Perhaps. I love Z cars.... but... well... maybe this vid will explain better than I can:

RIGHT CLICK & SAVE AS: (6.3MB)

Now... you could build something that will somehow outrun that Vette... but he'll be laughing at you the whole time.

News Flash... there will always be someone faster than you. I say go for it... and let us know how it goes.

Out of curiousity (and to confirm my assumption)... how old are you?

Kids in a DSM against a red Z51 C5 Corvette? I've seen that vid... it's not a Lingenfelter (even tho the title says it is), but they still get wasted.

Lingenfelter & Callaway are performance engineering companies that make their own kits & add-ons to cars. They're both famous for making TWIN TURBO kits for Corvettes. They also work a lot w/ the actual motor company too.

If you have LimeWire or similar download program, search for the video "Corvette c5 Lingenfelter Vs. Import" or just search for "Lingenfelter vs import" or "Lingenfelter vs DSM"
