Rear end ratios
Looking at swapping out my R180 3.364 for a R200 3.54. I will be also putting in a resonably high hp turbo engine this winter before I drive it next. I am running the 77-79 factory five speed.
Just wondering if anyone has opinions as to how sluggish this setup will be off the line? The 5spd/3.364 combo was a slug, but remember I am adding about 100-125hp at the wheels with the new engine. Do I need a 3.90?

Re: Rear end ratios
Well I ended up going for the 3.54 anyway. My bud needed to round up some cash so I helped him out a bit by buying it off him. The 3.90 seems like too much gear for me, cruising at 60mph at 2900rpm+... We'll see how the 3.54 works out. (at least its an R200 so I don't have to worry about breaking it)

Re: Rear end ratios
Probably alot better on gas too.
I once had some tremendous gearing in a truck I use to have the funny thing was I could was the gas guage go down as fast as the speedometer went up. =)
The thing would realy haul but though.

Hehe. Well I worry a bit about gas milage. I don't know if people have notcied, but gas prices have gone up a LOT in the last half year. Plus I'll be running 94 octane all the time... (the best you can get in canada) $$$$$$ Its around $0.89 per liter. ($3.36 a gallon for you US folks)
The car is going to be a daily driver for a few summers at least. I guess once I do the R200 conversion its easy enough to swap in a 3.9 or 4.11 though.
