rebuilding engine
I have a 1973 z with a 1980 280zx motor that I want to rebuild and get 250-300 horsepower out of it, I live in Tracy ca. what can I expect to pay and is there some one with in the area that you can reccomend. I know that Rebello is close to me but are they outrages in price for there set ups I know they put out a good motor.

250hp is a lot of power from a dual carbed 2.8L engine and you will pay a lot even if you do all the work yourself. Are you sure you need that much power? Swapping in a rebuilt 280zx turbo engine would be cheaper. Or at least get fuel injection because you'll need it to get close to that much power with an n/a engine.
I'm thinking you'll need to run to 7,000 rpm and therefore have a balanced engine, flattop pistons, 12:1 compression, long duration cam. It'll be a race only engine...
