SDS
Woo hoo, finally ordered my SDS. I hope to see it in 3 of 4 days. (yeah yeah, I haven't got my engine int he car yet, but thats a moot point)
Ended up in the end, shying away from the coil packs. I'm going to go with the EM-3E 6 cyl EFI system setup to trigger MSD... Evan, (or anyone else) is this the system you are running (eventually)?
Coil packs would be nice, but I just couldn't justify the extra cost, and I'd really like to have an adjustable rev limiter as you can get with the MSD's. (because without it I won't be able to trust myself on break in)

Re: SDS
Drax, the SDS has a built-in "rev-limiter". A fuel value of 0 is fuel cutoff. I used to program fuel up to 6250, then 0 from 6500 on up. It works.

SSSSDDDDDSSSS
Hey guys whatsup. Yes drax, that is the system that i have on my car right now. It has already been installed. I just need to put the motor in and plug in about 4 connectors and fire it up. Coilpacks are sweeet, but the thing is my car already had a crane hi6 installed that i would have had to sell. So it was worth it to me to forgo the coilpacks.
Anywho, the SDS has a fuel cut function for rev limiting. Honestly, i dont like the idea of a motor going ultimate lean in the event of an over rev. I preferr the spark dropping feature of the msd box etc. IF a little fuel got into the cylinder for some reason on a rev limited sds i would think there would be a possiblity of detonation.
Maybe my justification is because i cant afford coilpacks LOL. I dunno. If im wrong feel free to correct me!
Evan
PS drax, it is a really high quality unit. Your gonna love it!
Well while i have it apart i might as well........

Re: SSSSDDDDDSSSS
One other thing I heard about the coilpacks, which I am questioning, is that they aren't as durable for a daily driven vehicle. I sorta find that hard to believe with all the OEM's that put coil packs on their vehicles now.
So now I need to pick up a MSD box.

Re: SSSSDDDDDSSSS
It is really sad that there is so much misinformation floating around. One of the first heavy duty applications of coilpacks (at in the USA) was the early GNs. Most all aftermarket systems use GM coilpacks, including the SDS and they mount it on beautiful CNC-machined and anodized mount. If I did not know the benefits of the coilpacks, I would have bought it just for the appearnace and being abale to remove the distributor.

Re: SSSSDDDDDSSSS
yeah i hear that scottie. The coilpacks really do have thier advantages. Ill list what i know for the people who are curious.
Stronger spark
no cap/rotor/dist to replace or mess with
looks a helluva lot nicer with the distributor blocked off!!!!!
Honestly, i couldnt afford the coilpacks. I was stretching thin to afford the regular system. But i had to pass emisions on my car and i was worried that anything factory wouldnt cut it!
