sons first car is a 77' 280z and has a few problems and need advise and HELP

need help with 77 280z

When i push gas it goes up to 2300rpms and dies out. no matter if push slow or fast same results.Changed filters,plugs,and air intake censor.Any ideas

You "changed" the mass air flow? (It's actually an Air Flow Meter). The usual culprit of that ~2k rpm stumble is water in the TPS, way off timing, or mis-ajusted AFM.

I would try unplugging the TPS (throttle position sensor) and see what it does.

The TVS on the side of the throttle body is probably shorted. Unplug it for a quick test. If it works unplugged then that is your problem. Some also call it TPS.
