Speaker offsets in a ZX
Hello Z'ers..
I am looking to replace the factory speakers in both dash and rear (tool holder panel). From my observations the dash speakers are 4".. (excuse me nissan... but WHY would you put the left speaker in the center of the dash.. when I first looked at the Z I thought there was some sort of custom center speaker for a/v or something.. I refused to believe that any car manufacturer or designer would in the right mind mount the left speaker in the center.. anyway).. I would rather mount some 3-way 5 1/4" speakers in there for some better tweeter response (I've seen only one 1" tweeter available for 4" speakers and it didn't look too promising), has anyone drilled new holes.. or used any mounting kits for this? I'm debating the rear 6x9" mounting deck available from msa... really I don't feel like waiting a month for them to match colors.. get it installed.. but 6x9"s in the back would be nice. I also prefer the effect of speakers in the very rear as it brings out a more accurate sound.. rather than the crunched acoustic effect of having the 5 1/4"s in the tool space that tend to just throw the sound into the seats and bounce around in the hatch... finally becoming distorted when you hear it. If you guys were wondering.. I plan on going with a pioneer deck.. but I'd if I find something that goes better with my blue interior (I keep the accent nice and silver or blue, I'll have pictures soon). If I have to get 4" for the dash I'll probably go with polk ex series.. with adjustable lenses so that I can position the tweeter toward the windshield for the best acoustics. Probably component 4-ways in the back.. I'm jipping my friend of his 3 10" 1400 series mtx subs in box for 100 bucks, and I'll probably run an amp that will cost more than my exhaust did (8P). I certainly do enjoy my music (and I'm not talking about blaring out ghetto rap with as much blatent power as possible). Any thoughts?
