Video 260ZX

Well. I have no excuses. I just got bored, and thought you guys might like a view. Had to make sure the LSD still worked in the car. Turns out it does just fine. Not even sure what kind it is yet, although I imagine there are not a ton of options.

So, here is a link.

Yeah, I could have done way more. But, I can't really afford a new set of tires. But when I can, these will go out in a blaze of glory. Well. Maybe not a blaze. But, it will be glorious! lmao

It's a 2+2.
Yeah, if you try holding the brakes right off the bat, you will just spin the clutch... Or at elast I did... Sorry, not posting that video. I deleted it from everything but my nightmares. haha
But, if you get the wheels spinning, then lightly apply hte brakes, the clutch stays locked, and the car will hold still.

I am pretty sure I hve and LSD. Never had another vehicle that stuck as well, and lit up both tire all the time. I did a test with one on concrete, and one on asphault. They both went. So my guess, is that like the rest of the car, the previous owner put one in.

lol, no i know how, used to be able to do them in my sleep with my Z32... this car was just different... never spun the clutch though, it grabbed spun, applied brakes, boged... it was wierd. never have a car just stick like that. as far as teh LSD, though possible, idk, id say investigate. see if you still have in the original R180 if not then even more possible, and or take teh rear diff cover off. can usually tell my lookin at the unit.

All you have to do is jack up one tire... put the car in neutral... see if that tire spins... if not it's a LSD or welded... if you would like to know if it's welded... then make a full slow (5 mph) u-turn and if the rear tire skips/ spins then it's most likely welded... or a really good lsd

Indeed.... do the simple check of spinning a tire in the air. No need to remove the diff cover.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential.

Welded diff = NO SLIP at all. Which also means both wheels turn the same speed ALL the time... NOT good for going around corners.

Regular "open" diff = power goes to the wheel with the least amount of traction... good for keeping control of your car, bad for planting all those hp to the ground.

Ha. I installed enough LSD's that I should know how to check for one. Just felt like using it as an motive.

Then just tell yourself you're taking the cover off to read the gear ratio that's stamped on the ring gear lol.

I work 100 hours a week on the biggest heavy equipment made, down in a dirty, dusty, cold, hole of a mine, every day.
A few hours playing with my car on my days off, with a beer, is good stuff.
