What is a good 2-way alarm system

I use to have a Viper system on my 87 Camaro, it worked well, but ive been thinking of getting a 2-way system i saw at best buy. I forget the name of the company off the top of my head, but installed it was $300.

Just wondering what alarms you guys would recommend to buy. Whats the best bang for your buck?

Yeah... they'll just strip the inside of the car clean, but at least the car will still be there. Most people use alarms for more than preventing auto theft...

Choosing the alarm depends on what you want it to do... in the case of a 260z where there aren't many electronic features (electric windows, sunroof, etc), a basic alarm will work. And if you have a wiring schematic, you can install it yourself.

lol im sorry they wont want to strip my interior cuz its one of the worst on i z ive seen, but yes your right. i timed myself slim jimming my car... first try in 4 seconds. theyll be out and gone with your **** before anyone cant react to an alarm. moral is dont leave anything valuable in plain sight! and that goes for any car

my friend has one of those where it shows your car on a little display that can attach to a key chain. it gives him a sense of security and hes happy with it. i just personally feel that if someone wants it bad enough, they're going to get it from you.

well ya, if they want it bad enough they'll back a tilted flatbed up to it and drag it up onto the truck even if all four wheels are brake locked.... but that's pretty extreme. You'd need a $100K+ car to draw that kind of attention.

A kill switch and alarm that pages you when it goes off should work. I'm not sure of a specific brand though. I'd like to get the same for my 1970 Z.

Alarm

There is nothing wrong with the Directed alarm that you saw at Best Buy...though it may be a bit overkill for an older Z but hey, it's your Z so protect it whatever way makes you feel safe. I would still put a manual fuel cutoff switch somewhere on the car...every little bit helps.
