I just have a question for all of you: my Z is in excellent condition, but it needs some work here and there. How long did it take you people to get your Z's in such good condition, and how much money did it take?

 

It all depends on what you want to do... I got my '78 Z about 3 weeks ago.. But with what im looking at doing, im going to estimate 6 months if im devoting myself to it... and more or less a year if I take my time maybe longer.. im pushing for 8 months right now.... but ill see if i can get it done before my 19th birthday. DEC 7th... Ive got body damage to repair, paint to do, belly pans to replace, engine to rebuild and interrior to redo.. so yeah.. total restoration.

My 77 daily driver that took about a year to bring back to being roadworthy = $2200 purchase, $ 800 +/- engine mods & parts, $700 new springs struts, bushings and brakes, $ 400 to do the powdercoating on the suspension $ 550 interior, new carpet center console clock, full dash cap heater core& cont. valve, $ 350 stereo & speakers......and she still needs new rims and tires.

Second 77, is down to a shell and stripped for paint and body
work. I just quit counting that takes the fun out of the hobby.
Feels as though I'm looking at the beginnibg of a long, uphill straightaway. $ 12K so far and parts are becoming scares and
expensive for NOS or O.E new. $38.00 for a body emblem ?
