280ZX 2+2 car audio

Now that i've got the engine running... better... I'm starting to work on the stereo. I'm looking for some 6.5 inch coax or even component speakers that sound decent but not too expensive. I'm really not looking to spend over $100 for a pair for coax, and maybe 150 for components. Anyone have suggestions?

The "Car Audio" stores here in Salt Lake blow. I've been trying to hear some decent 6.5 speakers for the past few days and get "Oh, we don't have anything hooked up" or "Here, we have these $400 speakers!!"

I've heard nothing but good things from Elemental Designs speakers and these have caught my eye. Anyone have any experience with them?

Just to give an idea on what I'm planning, is 2 6.5 speakers in the very rear (something custom will be made when the speakers are purchased), maybe 2 of the Elemental Designs 6 inch subs or 1 8 inch sub (snoop around in the link provided to see them), and possibly sometime in the future some components up front in the doors. Granted all the sound will be coming from the rear now (which it already is...), but its not that big of a deal for me at the moment...

Thanks for any help!

Ain't dat duh twoof!

Meh... audio setups in a 280zx are overrated. When I'm driving I can't hear the music anyway.

I converted my 280zx 2+2 into a 2seater back... threw a component set in the compartment panel, tweets at the top of the A & B pillars, 3"s in the dash, and 8" Kickers in the back of the hatch. Stereo weight = bad!!! (bad in a not-good way).

True True

I don't want to go way overboard with the setup, just enough to enjoy driving. Plus I wanted to try my hand and some fiberglassing

Ooh... indeed that is fun. Itchy, but fun.
