Body kit Question
#2
They replace the bumper covers. After you remove the rubber trim, you can mount the body kit over the metal bumper reinforcements. That is the easier method. if you want to remove the metal and make the car lighter, that is your option. You will have to figure out a way to keep the kit on the car though.

I was contemplating customizing an air dam from a CRX or 2nd generation Eclipse and removing the bumpers from my 83t. Does anyone know of this being done and if so, what a good air dam would be to do it with?
Thanks!

its been done before.. there are a few guys who used diffrent air dams from other car and tried to mold them to the 280 body... IMO it doesnt fit the body style of the car too well... heres a link to one guys 280 with a 240SX body kit

The 240SX one looks ok, and the CRX one looks really, really bad....
It might look better to use the MSA euro air dam bumper section and then put the larger SX air dam under that so that the bumper line fits properly and contours with the hood and headlight buckets. That is, if you have to have the newer body kits. I think the MSA kit does look good and the only reason not to use it is that most other people use that body kit. It is unique enough though just owning a nice 280ZX. there aren't very many on the street these days.
