celica headlights

Has anyone seen the 280zx that had a roadster conversion and celica headlights? Wondering, I saw it at hot import nights in seattle but couldn't get any pictures

was interesting looking at the people looking at the car. One of them said "what the hell is that thing?"

and oh man that was crazy at the show I saw a little corolla that was sponsored by K&N. It was crazy, never saw this until I went to the show. The car looked like it had dual carbs like weber or something similar but than I noticed the thing had wiring going to it and what looked like a fuel rail. I asked the guy and they said the car is fuel injected and had indepedant throttle bodies for each cylinder Wow, that was crazy. After that I saw another car, This time it was a supra, looked at the thing and was puzzled because I didn't see a throttle where it would normaly be. Asked the guy who had the car and he had the same thing. A few cool cars were there, but most of the cars just looked polished up for show.

A possible alternative are the Porsche type oval headlights for a more traditional look. Depending on the dimensions they may be able to be blended into the ZX buckets. Not sure I would have Porsche parts on a Z but anyway, this type.

Everyone seems to think Z's are Porsches anyway... why not put some Porsche headlights haha.

If you look at the Porsche headlight assembly dead-on, they are perfectly round. It's just the angle they're molded that makes them oval. It would look rather odd, in my opinion, on a Zed, but Diff'rent Strokes for Diff'rent Folks!

I think the Celica light deal is offsetting the original lines and design of the Z-car. I'd rather fab up some deal like what IceIce would want - WRX bugeye headlights.

The Skyline GTR came like that stock. It has a normal looking intake manifold but where the throttle body normally is is just a faux TB to connect the intake piping. The runners of the manifold each have a throttle plate in them controlled by the throttle linkage. And that's stock. It's the little attention to detail like that that make the Skyline so amazing as a driving machine.

For sure. Who'd have thought ITB with a twin turbo setup could be so smooth and streetable.

Just one more reason I'm sticking with Nissan for my performance jones [well, and Mazda, because of the rotary ].

See the trick is to make sure the TB's aren't too large or you'll lose the air velocity that is so important at low RPM's. Without low end torque suffers, but it leaves you more potential on the top end. That's why most mods that drastically increase airflow decrease low end response. The GTR uses rather small TB's so maintain smooth lowend streetability. That's also the reason alot of high horsepower GTR's are switched to a huge single TB set up with a custom manifold.
