Dash Color

I'll admit upfront that I haven't searched this one a lot. I'm replacing the dash pad on the 82 ZX since it's out of the car (first one got ate up fast by the sun, nice enough to warranty it though). While I'm staring at the very front where the dash mounts with the four screws it occurred to this would be a good time to respray the metal. Does anyone know if the metal was original matched to the dash color or was it a different shade to make it stand out?

Bringing back an old thread, as you can see about a year ago I installed a second dash cap. This one has pretty much melted in the Georgia sun like the last one. The question.... has anyone else had this problem with heat warping? And yes I did use just enough silicone to hold it down as recommended.

I haven't. I use sun shades in all my cars. Cracking the windows to allow heat to escape helps too.

Yep... gets to 100*+ during the summer here too... June to Sept pure sun, and very little rain.

Sun shades.........
