dash speakers - should I keep them
I'm getting ready to install my uncracked dash that I purchased.Even though it seems to be pretty pliable still i'm a little concerned about keeping the speakers in it for fear of the vibrations causing cracks to start over that right speaker. Opinions??

Well, in my opinion, it'd be sort of like putting new tires on and leaving the old valve stem. A speaker is one of those items, that if it's not broke, then perhaps it IS time to replace. Especially when you have the old dash out. I doubt if you want to take your dash out again, down the line, to replace your speakers.
The vibration of a speaker isn't going to do your dash in...Sun and heat sure will.

Speakers
I considered using the stock dash location, but it is a tiny speaker size, and poor location, pointing up at the windshield. I am using Polk components, with a 6 1/2 driver, Separate tweeter and crossover. I placed my 1st set of speakers in the doors and I am going to put the tweeters above the vents in the corners of the dash. A second set in more or less stock locations and a sub. I copied a design I saw on e-bay, it works out to be the optimal size for a sealed 10 inch. The picture I have shows the box w/ a Sony speaker. I have a Polk to fit it now, just in a box in my closet. Just took it out to test fit, was made for a z31, but fits pretty well. I am probably going to do different grills, but just getting in and out working on it I almost kicked the kick panel, so I put the grills on.

Base model
Ya, I don't have anything cool in my car, it is a base model. I do plan on having the door panels reupholstered and including a map pocket on each side. I don't like my red interior and plan on changing it to black with some red high lights, most of the plastic will paint over.
