I was just wondering about the rear view mirrors on the fairlady zs and was wondering why they put them on the fender other than aesthetic reasaons. Then I just realized that when you check your mirrors you have a blind spot and you really need to turn your head to see if someone is next to you. Wouldn't pushing the mirrors forward help eliminate this blind spot? Is that why the fairlady have the mirrors pushed farther ahead onto the fenders

The real reason they are there is because roads and parking in Japan is a lot narrower than in US, so moving them to the fender, they don't stick out as far. Sounds rediculous, but they are were really **** about space over there. I'm assuming that has changed, as you don't see this done anymore.
