fiberglass hoods for 280ZX???
before i place an order for the MSA catalog, just curious if they even make a lighter, fiberglass hood for my ZX. mine has lotsa rust on it & i would like to know before i just order the catalog blind. curious as to what they offer other than OEM parts.
i just bought the car last week & am now doing research - '83 280ZX GL 2+2; n/a 5spd.

Don't be in such a rush it will only cost you more money in the long run do some research on the web you should find a lot out there. Try this contact Dave @ http://www.arizonazcar.com/

You need to email Dave and ask him if he has any around he workes out of his garage he may have one or two left or a stock one in good shape. Anyway it your choice. If you do find one when you put it on the car take the spring bows off they are two strong for fiberglass hoods. If I find any places I will post them for you.

i'm not putting off the OEM steel hood, but i just wanna take some weight off the front. even being 50/50 weight i like the idea Porsche has, more weight in back for better braking & cornering abilities. theres several yards here in Central TX so "shopping" is my 1st task...THX for the help.

We brought one over from Japan a coupl years back for my car...was totally not worth it, adn I ended up using a new OEM stock hood from Nissan.
The FRP versionweighed just asmuch, and being glass, required finiahing work to make it perfect. For a glass piece, it was excellent quality, but the weight savings jsut was not there.
