G-nose
#27
I emailed him back in November and here's what I got:
Here's what I asked:
I was looking at your website and I'm considering placing an order for the g nose kit for my 280zx. I have a couple of questions before I place an order, first off you list three different parts under the g nose heading; G nose kit 2 piece, Front wing w/flare + runner pair, and Rear arch w/runner pair. I assume that the g nose itself is the first on the list, but I'm confused about the other two items I dont know what they are. Could you explain what exactly they are? Also, do you sell or know where I can get clear headlight covers for your g nose kit? would 240zg covers work? I was also curious about the imsa full fender kit shown on this page: http://www.mjpauto.com/280zx.html I cannot find a listing for it anywhere else on your webpage, did I miss it or have you discontinued it?
Answer:
Just the first item is the 2-piece G-nose kit. The other items refer to a complete front fender / wing with flared arches and a rear fender / wing wheel arch flare kit. These are an optional look when using a G-nose with big wheels / tyres. The "runners" are triangular extensions of the lower part of the flare which run along the sill.
The IMSA kit is still available in 2 seater and 2+2 versions, but the moulds have not been used for some years now. The basic kit consists of front bumper valance, complete front fenders / wings, door pod extensions and rear fender / wing extensions which require the wheel arch to be cut and welded plus considerable bonding and additional bodywork. Optional extras shown on the car on the site are: sill extensions (considerable modification of supplied part required), a rear bumper / valence, a choice of rear spoiler and headlamp covers. I would need to check pricing on the basic kit as it has not been made for some time, but expect approx. £1000 (options at extra cost).
Headlamp covers for the 280ZX G-nose have never been produced. 240ZG covers will be close, but I have no guarantee that they will fit perfectly.
Regards,
Mike at MJP

Here's an idea anyone ever seen the bomex front from an 01 eclipse, how about getting that front end on our Z. It would probably take some work and molding but im sure it would pay off in the end. If anyone has photo shop see what it looks like.

Here it is Zskyline79. I dunno ... if I worked on it a lot more and tweaked the colors, it might actually look decent. Sorry Isaac, I didn't mean to bastardize Kimberly! Your car was parked in the right spot, so I used it.
By no means is this a testament to my Photoshop skills. I can do MUCH better. Not bad for a half-assed, 15-minute job though.

It looks like something those ricer Z32 guys would put on their cars haha. Naw, seriously I don't think that looks good, no offense or anything. What I want is a front air dam like the ones they make for the 240Z. I really want a vintage look and most of the 280ZX kits make the car look more modern.

I tend to agree, I think its ugly. "I'd rather accentuate the lines of the car than totally change them."
EDIT- I take back the previous statement (in quotes) I'd rather make it look how I want it to look! If you like the look then by all means do it I'd rather have you like the car and for it to be unique than the alternative.

damn Dave-O, that's right on the money... I don't think it looks bad at all... I am leaning towards a less-ricey look, but for some ZX'ers it might be what they're looking for. Good Job... I wonder if Isaac has seen this pic yet??

To tell you the truth, I like it, and it would look good, but as most of you, it's not quit my style. but hey, Zskyline79, I do think it looks bad@$$, but to look right you would need an all around kit that compliments bothe the original lines of the car and the lines of the air damn, and I hate to say it, but, good luck with that one. I do give you mad props though for thinkin' somethin like that up and havin the ***** to say it when most ZX drivers on this site go for the vintage look! So once again man, Mad Props!

This site better still be up in about 3 years! I'll show all of you to shame! At the time I can't say anything more than custom, one-off, only one in the world! everything else is classified. if I did tell you, i will be forced to...uhm...yah....huh?

That air dam looks like it would be a little more at home on a 300GT or a car like that. I dont know about the Z though. Maybe if it was colored to match we could get a better perspective on it. Nice job on the photo shopping though.
I give you props too. It's not easy to put stuff like that out there for criticism. Everyones got different tastes though. And I agree with Juggalo, if the rest of the body was done to compliment the airdam it would actually probably look pretty good. I'm not one for the original ZX bumper styles so it would be nice to see something so different every once in a while.
